Is this ironic?

I need you guys to tell me if you think this is ironic or not. So I got home from work the other night and my neighbors were having themselves a party. I went over and had a few brews, did the party thing, you know how I roll. Later on in the evening I find myself outside in front of my house/duplex/apartment structure listening to this guy who went on and on about how he just got out of jail and how he didn't do it and all that crap. There's a concrete block with steps and one door from the outside that leads to a little vestibule and my door and my neighbor's door are inside that. In order for you to avoid having to picture what that looks like I have, once again, provided some astonishingly accurate artist's renditions. This is what that looks like.

Now, my neighbors have had parties before, but this time they allowed someone else to invite people over, thus they didn't really know anyone at their own party and that's why the following happened. As you can see there are little windows on either side of the door. Through said windows I see my neighbor's door open and I have a clear view of the stairs inside their apartment. There's this guy opening the door and looking around while his friend is coming down the stairs with my neighbor's Xbox and Xbox 360 in his arms. At this point I think to myself: "You gotta be fucking kidding me." I open the door and his friend says "Look out" and the idiot thief actually turns his back to me trying to hide the fact that he's trying to steal my neighbor's stuff. This is what he looked like. I asked him what the hell he thought he was doing. This is what he said to me: "Someone told me to hold these for him!" Brilliant. The criminal mind hard at work. I told him to put them back, he goes back inside the house, repeating his pathetic excuse, puts the game systems down and takes off. His friend sits there for a moment and I tell him he better follow his accomplice before everyone finds out what's going on and beats his ass. He takes off, I try to call someone to get my neighbors inside, they were in the backyard at the time, while I'm sitting there making sure no one takes their stuff. The neighbors finally get there and everyone is pissed and the party's over and I'm the hero. Later on they treated me to a meal at Steak 'N Shake, which was good.

So there you have it. I was talking to a thief, listening to him tell me that he didn't do it, while observing another thief attempting to steal some stuff. You tell me, ironic.....or not?

According to the basic definition of Irony, it is the exact opposite of what you thought would happen. So, no, someone stealing something while you are talking to someone else about how they are innocent is not Ironic. Now, if the ex-con was stealing or helping to steal and claiming his innocence, then that would be ironic. Sorry, you are wrong.

Do the thieves know where you live? Becuase they were probably caseing your place as well.

Once again, the artistic representations have added to the drama. :)

I vote "NO" on the issue of irony...Great story though.

People lie so much that sometimes they try to convince themselves that they do anything wrong
